A Cajun Woodstock

Salle de Dance

A "Cajun Woodstock " perfectly describes the upcoming, 27th annual, " Festival Acadiens et Creole"! Only 3 more days!! This year's festival will kick off on, Fri., October 9th, at Downtown Alive , with Feufollet, Jimmy C. Newman, and Doug Kershaw and continue on Saturday, October 10th, through Sun., October 11th, in Girard Park, in central Lafayette. Three days of nothing but, Cajun fun, music and food!! It is going to be a blast! This is the big one, the one that celebrates all things Cajun and Creole! Here are a few pics, out of the hundreds that I took, at last year's festival. (click to enlarge)

The music, the food, the art, the culture, the people! Festival Acadiens et Creole will host three different music stages, providing a non- stop music and dancing atmosphere. Many families set up gazebos where they barbeque and visit and catch up with with old friends. You see just about everyone that you ever knew and meet lots of new people from all over the world!

Put on your dancing shoes for the Festival de Musique that will host over 40 bands with many of my favorites. Wayne Toups & ZydeCajun, Balfa Toujours, Bonsoir Catin, The Lost Bayou Ramblers, Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole, Feu Follet, Lil' Nathan & the Zydeco Big Timers, High Performance, and the list goes on and on!!!
For a complete schedule, go here.

Bayou Food Festival

And you won't want to miss the wonderful variety of Cajun and Creole cuisine, that will be for sale by many of Acadiana's award winning Cajun and Creole restaurants. Oh cest bon, cher! Le Bon Creole and Landry's Cafe' are my faves. I cannot wait to have a fried Crawfish Poboy and Crawfish Pie and a Louisiana Rum Muffin. See ya'll there! And for those of you who can't make it, wish you were here!!! Lassiez les bon ton rouler, cher!!!

Rock on, Marguerite!

Dave- You'd better start grilling some Cajun recipes now to get used to the spice. And don't forget the Bloody Mary!

I would love to be on my way to join in this fun festival. I would wear my dancing shoes, for sure, and work off those rum muffins.

Marguerite, Hubby and I are waffling back and forth about coming to this! ( call me Brett Favre)We would also like to attend the 7 mile yard sale the following weekend so I don't know which event will win out yet. If I don't make it and you talk to Jimmy C. Newman, tell him you are friends with James O'Gwynn's daughter! He and my dad are long time friends. I grew up seeing him often! :)

John- You described it perfectly! Party-Hardy! I'll have a Newcastle, in your honor. Thanks!

Carol- I would love it if you and hubby would come to the festival!! The weather is looking a little wet with the current forecast, but that weather guy is usually wrong, anyway. That 7 mile yard sale sounds great. Where is it? Hope to see you soon!

Quelle fĂȘte Marguerite! Louisiana Rum Muffins – that’s sound “dĂ©licieux”. I bet all of your blogging readers would love to join you, me included.

Sniffles and Smiles- I so wish that you could have joined me,too, cher! I danced and ate enough for the whole blogosphere. Today I'm on a veggie diet, and resting. Whew!

Vagabonde- So good to hear from you, cher! I only got to eat one rum muffin because after the second night of rain, the ground in front of their booth was so muddy, you couldn't get to it!
