Spicy Grilled Catfish & Shrimp + Fun on the Bayou

Here's a great quick and easy recipe that is a favorite at my house, and is perfect for those warm summer evenings. So light and healthy, too! One bite of this scrumptious dish will send you into orbit, cher! Oh, cest bon! If you can't get catfish, in your area, your favorite fish can be substituted. Enjoy!

Spicy Grilled Catfish and Shrimp

4 large catfish fillets
1 lb. large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
1 tbs. blackened fish seasoning
1 tbs. Cajun seasoning
1 tsp. dried thyme
Juice of one lemon

Squeeze lemon juice on both sides of fish and shrimp. Combine seasonings and sprinkle seasoning mix on the fish and shrimp, to coat both sides. Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Place seasoned shrimp in an oiled grill pan, and baste and grill for 5 to 7 minutes on each side. Place seasoned catfish (top side down) in an oiled grill pan.  Grill on medium for 10 to 12 minutes. Flip and baste and grill for 10 to 12 more minutes, or until fish flakes with a fork. Oh cest bon, cher! Serve with steamed broccoli and garlic bread. Le bon manger!

Fun on the Bayou

It was another great Cajun weekend, with lots going on and plenty of fun to be had! On Saturday night, we went to Artmosphere, a combination art gallery, restaurant/ bar, hookah lounge, and live music venue, in downtown Lafayette. David Egan and the Twenty Years of Trouble Band were rockin' the crowd!

There was a whole lotta rockin' and rollin' going on!

After dancing for a while, we ordered one of these sinfully delicious pizzas! Divine!

The walls are always filled with such interesting art. These caught my eye.

And here's a little clip that I took of some good old bayou boogie. They were jammin' down!

Wishing you all a wonderful, happy week! Merci beaucoup for stopping by!

Catfish aren't regulars over here, but I guess it would work with any decent solid white fish. Looks like they might be slowly getting a handle on the leak.

Never had catfish - must try it one day. Your recipes alway look very appetising. Here we are Cod and Place and Haddock eaters.
I see BP has had partial success with the capping but hope the leak is stopped soon.
Glad you are still enjoying your dancing and dining - I love to see people enjoying themselves.
As for me I am busy with the home improvements and decorating! Hip holding up very well I am pleased to say! LOL

Okay I'm not that much of a fish eater, Marguerite. But I'll take a slice of that amazing pizza anytime :)

I'm probably the only Cajun in the world who doesn't eat seafood (only fried shrimp lol), I just can't take the smell of it.

But this does look YUMMY!! I'm linking to your blog in my post today! I think a lot of my friends would love this recipe!!

That video...the music makes me miss home so much lol! I keep telling myself "only 3 more months, only 3 more months!" Lol... I can't wait to get home for a visit!

Have a great weekend!

Awe, your blog brings back memories. I came over from Homesick Cajun. Went to LSU....moved around the country.....currently in Kansas. I love it here, but there is no place on the planet like Louisiana. It will always rank #1 in my heart!

Great blog. I'll be back!

What catfish? I crawled thru the Internet and licked the plate clean! And a hookah and beer, yup, only in Lafayette! (And I like that!) Enjoy your chill-out at your place in Maryland. But be prepared for traffic. Instead of going down to Fla., many families are packing the beaches in Md and Del. Anyway, here's to an endless summer, cher!

Marguerite, I have an award for you at my place, Clouds, and I would be highly honoured if you would collect it. Eddie

now that's some fine eating there - and since our shrimp boats are idle around here, we might as well go inland for some fine catfish

John- Any fish would work, with a grill pan. It's the seasoning and basting sauce that makes this dish. If they would only explore all of the options, it could go a lot faster.

Eddie- Next to catfish, Cod and Flounder are my faves! BP is stubbornly NOT utilizing all of the options available, and until they do, it will keep gushing. Glad to hear that you're doing so well! Cheers, cher!

Joanne- I rarely eat pizza, but this place has the best and this one was "to die for"!! Merci for stopping by, cher!

Dee- OMG, you probably are! lol Fried Shrimp is my fave! Thanks so much for the linkage, cher! So glad you enjoyed it! We'll have to get together, when you come home!

starnes family- Hi and welcome to Cajun country! I'm so happy to meet you! Thanks so much for your nice comment and for the follow! You're right, there really is no other place like it!

Janine- Merci, cher! It's a really fun place and I would be delighted to take you there, anytime! So glad you enjoyed it! You are in my thoughts and prayers, especially today.

I like catfish, so that will be another good recipe to try. I looked at your collection of chili recipes. You sure list a lot of them. When I make it again, I’ll check your recipes first you can be sure.

Yummers and that looks like some fun party, sha!

So proud of you for promoting our seafood industry. They must really be hurting about now with the oil spill fiasco.

Kittie- Thanks for the compliment, cher! lol I'll be in Ocean City, which is always crowded in summer. Bon voyage, cher! Have some extra fun in Europe for me!

Eddie- Merci beaucoup, again, cher! It was so sweet of you! It will take a while to answer all of those questions! lol

Drick- Thanks for your kind comment, cher! You're right, at least we'll still have our catfish and crawfish! So sorry about the oil heading your way!
