It was another great weekend in Cajun country, and lots of good eating, too! I started my Mother's Day off, a little early and you might say that I went on a weekend binge. On Saturday evening, I went to an early Mother's Day dinner celebration at Copeland's of New Orleans/Lafayette, with my girl-friends. Two of us, split a Fried Seafood Platter and each got a salad and a glass of wine. Divine, cher!
After we were thoroughly stuffed, we went downtown to a fundraiser concert, that my darling daughter was spearheading, at Grant Street Dancehall. There were five bands and it was an absolute blast! Thankfully, I was able to dance some of these calories off. I will be doing a post about the benefit dance, soon.
Then on Mother's Day, we spent the afternoon with family and friends and enjoyed a nice afternoon on the bayou. It was a beautiful day and they were grilling up a storm!
Sausage, Turkey Burgers, and Wings, were all cest bon, cher!
Then, that evening, my dear son took me out to a nice dinner, for some grilled shrimp, steamed veggies, and a sinful dessert. He had to work all day, and had to miss all of the day's festivities, so it was nice to relax and enjoy a fabulous meal together.
Hope that you all had a very happy Mother's Day, too! One of my dear bloggie friends wanted to hear some more "bayou boogie". Here's a little clip of Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie, playing at Whiskey River Landing, in Henderson, a few weeks ago, during Festival International. As always, there was some nitty-gritty dancing going on! Let the good times roll, cher! Hope that ya'll have a fantastic, fun week!

Glad you had a nice Mother's day. Our Mothering Sunday in England is in March.
Great that you are having a good time and dancing all those calaries off - not many there in shrimps I would imagine! Boy, you must be really fit. Hugs Eddie
ya know if I could go to as many fantastic festivals as you attend I could eat all that wonderful cajun food and not gain an ounce. I'll just live vicariously through you. Love your blog and all these wonderful posts.
sounds like you had a fabulous day and really ate well - another fun fill day - hey, you sure know how to have a good time, I am just beginning to see how wonderful you really are........
My first love is Jesus...My second is my wife of 45 years...and my third love is cooking. I'll enjoy this blog.
I’ve enjoyed looking over your blog. I came across it through another blog I follow, and I’m glad I did. I am now a follower of yours as well. Feel free to look over my blog and perhaps become one as well.
Hello, dear Marguerite! First, I want to say, I ADORE your header photo! And wow! What a lovely mother's day you had! And after all, I think a quiet dinner with your son was probably the nicest thing of all...great one on one time. Hope you had some of that with your daughter, too! Love you, and love that bayou music!! Janine XOXO

Just wanted to let you know that you are making me hungry -again -and again -and again! Love seeing the pics anyway though.
I see the Southern love of food is definitely alive and well. Have some shrimp for me, oh, and a cold beer.
You definitely had a wonderful Mother's Day. And extended too, starting early Saturday evening with your girlfriends! We'll often do what you did, splitting a platter of food between us, and it's always enough. It seems the restaurant portions can be so large lately. For me, half works well!
Again, congratulations your Mother's Day my friend. You enjoyed with your kids and friends, what a big happiness! Enjoyment of life and
be thankful...I will be waiiting the next post about benefit dance...beatiful food, but what are you doing with the calories, dancing? I wish you a happy-healty week from Türkiye.
With my love and respects...
(I'm waiting for the Father's Day,
what my kids doing to enjoy me?)
That food looks amazing!!
Eddie- Thanks, cher! There are two main groups, here. The ones who dance more often, than they eat, and the ones who eat more often, than they dance. The first group is fit, the second is not! lol
Lea Ann- So good to hear from you and so glad that you enjoy them! Thanks so much for your sweet comment and for stopping by!
Drick- It was a fabulous day and having a good time comes naturally to a Cajun! Merci beaucoup for your kind compliment, cher. Such a sweet thing to say!
covnitkepr1- Hi and welcome to Cajun country! I am so glad that you stopped by. Thanks a lot for your nice comment and for the follow! I will visit you, soon.
Janine- Merci, cher, it is one of my favorite patios, in downtown Lafayette. It was lovely and although I spend lots of quality time with my children, all of the time, this day was very special. Hope that yours was, too. So glad you enjoyed the bayou boogie, cher!
Cloudia- A bon ton, for sure, mon amie! Aloha, cher, and thanks for stopping by!
I congrulate your Mother's Day dear
Marguerite.
Eating-dancing-laughing that we all
need.
Please accept my best wishes to your
all family.
Yours..Regards
I wonder which group I would be in LOL
We had a great time in Baltimore. As a belated birthday dinner I was taken to a nice seafood restaurant and had some great crab cakes – I think Louisiana and Baltimore are the best places for crab. I read your past posts and saw that you had your usual fun times. We flew back on Mother’s Day so did not do much. I would have done a post on my mother today as she was born on 5/12/2010 and would have been 100 today, but I do not want to rush into it – I’ll do one on French Mother’s Day which is the last Sunday of May. I’d like to hear more about your time in Colorado – that must have been fun too. Thanks for commenting on my blog chère Marguerite – c’est très gentil.
Jeni- Thanks, I will definitely take that as a compliment! Glad you enjoyed the pics, cher! Thanks for stopping by!
John- You've got that right! Thought about you last night when I was eating some more grilled shrimp! Cheers!
Joanne- The portions here are HUGE, so if we don't share, we can always get a "take home box" and enjoy the rest later. Definitely helps the waistline. Thanks for coming by, cher!
aslan- Merci beaucoup for your kind comment, cher! It was nice to be "Queen for a Day"! I dance the extra calories off, but also exercise "portion control" or else I would be as big as a house! lol Hope you are having a happy week, too!
steph- Hi and welcome! Thanks for stopping by and for your nice comment. So glad you like it!
Happy you had a beautiful Mother's Day. Special times with your kids are Kodak memories. Since my gumbo heart's stuck in Virginia, I savor your blog. But haven't had a Real Fried Seafood Platter in so long I think I'd rather leave you a small plantation in my will than share a platter lol, all those fried oysters, yum! And most of the crab served in nearby Maryland come from Louisiana these days...now, if they'd only learn how to cook 'em!
Jivago- So glad you're back from your trip! I'm delighted that you stopped by! Thank you, it was a lovely day. You are right about that! Cheers, cher, and merci for the sweet wishes for my family! My best wishes to yours, mon ami!
Eddie- You canaille, yeah, cher! lol
Vagabonde- Glad that you had fun in Baltimore! I know the area, well, and they do have fabulous crab cakes. Hope that you had a wonderful Mother's Day! I will look forward to your post. Yes, Colorado was a lot of fun and perhaps I will do a post. You're welcome cher, merci! Cheers!
Kittie- Thanks so much for your sweet comment! This seafood platter is killer! I hear ya on the crabs, cher! They need to use some Zatarain's Crab boil, and boil, instead of steam. Although I've had some fabulous crabs on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I lived there for many years!
Hii Marguerite,
I am hungry,I can eat all of them :DD
What a lovely blog beatiful woman:Pp
aysegul- Bonjour and welcome! It's so nice to have you here! Merci beaucoup for your lovely comment and for stopping by!
