Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding w/ Chocolate Amaretto Sauce
1 loaf "day old" bread ( I used a 16 oz. loaf of honey wheat bread)
3 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 eggs beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Tear bread into bite sized pieces and place in large bowl. In large, separate bowl, combine milk, brown sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and chocolate chips. Mix well, and pour mixture over bread and blend gently. Pour into a buttered 9x13 baking dish and cover with foil. Bake @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for 15 minutes or until set.
Serve with warm Chocolate Amaretto Sauce.
Chocolate Amaretto Sauce
4 (1 oz.) squares semisweet chocolate
1 tbs. butter
6 tbs.'s whipping cream
4 tbs.'s Amaretto
Combine first three ingredients in saucepan and stir and cook over low heat, until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in Amaretto. This sauce may also be made without the Amaretto, but I find that it adds a sinfully delicious flavor! Enjoy!

I'm putting together a cookbook of my family's favorite recipes. Have you ever put together your own cookbook before? I'm just thinking of working on it from now until October then have some printed as gifts for family and friends for Christmas at the end of this year. I’d love to live close to you Marguerite as I could maybe taste some of your goodies. I don’t remember when was the last time someone baked something for my birthday. I remember a friend at work baked a pound cake for me, I think it was in 2004 – so I am ready to eat another one! But I guess I’ll have to bake it myself. My oven door is not closing properly since they moved the stove to install the kitchen floor, so I have not been baking.
What a sad, sad situation with that oil crisis. You're so right when you say that life as you know it will be over for a long time. I can't even fathom the quantity of oil spilling into the waters there, and hope for everyone's sake, the wildlife too, that a solution is found soon so that the damage can start to be addressed.
As I read your latest news about the spill, I will also be reading your latest recipe and getting fat just on the words, the delicious promise of it all.
They're already finding tar balls in Key West. No one will go to prison for this. No one.
Real bad news with the spill, one day our love of gas and big cars has to end. Let's hope the effect on the fishing industry is not too catastrophic.
Just seen the video, Marguerite. It is heartbreaking to see how the coastline and livelihoods are being devastated.
Just my hunbke opinion but I really do think we are living in the end times and we (humamity) have messed up this planet and the sheer greed, lawlessness and cruelty of humanity is beginning to tell in a very powerful way. I really don't think it can go on much longer. There I am serious sometimes, cher, but I will always want to give you a little hug ~ Eddie x

Not even being served that wonderful chocolate chip bread pudding EVERY DAY would cheer me up after reading your news about the oil spill and the closed shrimping areas. What a disaster for the whole Gulf coast.

Loved the bread pudding recipe.
I heard today about the thick crude oil that has now been spotted in the Louisana marshes. Yoru marshes are so eco-sensitive. What a tragedy! I am watching the oil spill closely. Like you, I live near the gulf coast in the panhandle of Florda.
I can eat this any time, and not just for dessert.
