Oh Big Fun on the Bayou!

The threat of severe thunderstorms could not stop the crowd that was at the T.G.I.F party in downtown Lafayette today. We started with the Bach Lunch at noon with music by Corey Ledet and His Zydeco band and a delicious seafood lunch catered by Stan's Downtown. After the concert we headed over to Artmosphere for a little R and R and a chocolate martini. They have the most divine chocolate martinis there. It was about 4 pm when we heard that tonight's Downtown Alive had been cancelled due to inclement weather expected. The weather looked fine to me;  80 degrees and sunny.

So we had to change plans and decided to head over to Randol's Restaurant and Dancehall for some Cajun dancing and boiled crawfish. By this time it was raining lightly but no biggie, as we're accustomed to torrential rain, at times. After dancing a while, our dinner came; seafood gumbo and crab dip for starters. And boiled crawfish and a seafood platter for finishers. Ca cest' bon, cher!

And tomorrow, we will be going to a special edition Bach Lunch concert from 4 to 10 pm, in Parc Sans Souci, in downtown Lafayette. In celebration of the 21st anniversary of Bach Lunch, there will be an incredible triple header concert with Les Freres Michot, Cedric Watson and Creole Bijou and Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars, entertaining the crowd at this great show. Don't miss it! Oh, the life of a Cajun! Let the good times roll!

BeauSoleil Takes Grammy

Many fans and supporters of Michael Doucet avec Beausoliel gathered at The Blue Moon Saloon on Grammy night . A complimentary Red Beans and Rice dinner was served. The Jimmy Breaux Band rocked the crowd, with Roddie Romero on the guitar. Jimmy is, of course, the accordion player for Beausoleil and is now wishing that he had gone to L.A.

Some serious champagne drinking going on right about now, out there. The crowd was lively and went wild when they heard the news; that Beausoleil, 11 time Grammy nominee, had won the 2009 Grammy in the best zydeco/Cajun category, for " Beausoleil Jazz Fest Live 2008'" Congratulations and have a blast in L.A.! Let the Good Times Roll!

Downtown Alive Turns 25!

The 2008' schedule for the, 25th Anniversary, fall concert series for Downtown Alive has been announced. Every Spring and Fall, for the past 25 years, people have been flocking to downtown Lafayette, every Friday evening, to enjoy the best in Cajun, Zydeco, Rock and Roll, and Swamp Pop music.

Delicious food and cold beverages are sold for those opting to go straight from work. And especially for those who work up an appetite, while dancing at the fais do do, (street dance) This year's line up features Rockin' Dopsie, Jr., who will play the season opener on September 5th, just as his father, Rockin' Dopsie, Sr. did , for the fall 1983 series. Other picks are also a throwback to the early years of DTA, including Zachary Richard on October 10th and BeauSoleil on November 21st. New, this year will be a Boudin Cookoff, on October 25.

For more information, go to, www.boudincookoff.com As a seasoned DTA goer, I highly recommend that you to come on down to DTA, for great music, great food, and a great time. You never know who you'll run into! Laissez les bon temps rouler!
