Time for Downtown Alive + Bayou Boogie

It's that time again in Cajun country! Time for Lafayette's favorite Friday night "T.G.I.F." block party. The 26th annual Fall concert schedule has been released and it looks like one big jammin' line- up. The fun all starts on Friday, September 11, and runs every Friday evening through Nov. 20, with a special lagniappe edition on Thanksgiving eve, November 25!

Kicking off this fantastic party will be T.K. Hulin, Steve Adams and Smoke, with special guest, Charlene Howard. For a complete schedule go here. Oh the memories with this one- of- a- kind band. T.K. is a local Cajun legend and his distinctive Swamp Pop sound continues to attract huge crowds in Acadiana. Come on out for a bon temps and get into the Fall festival spirit.

We have a lot of great festivals coming right up, including Festival Acadiens et Creole, my favorite, slated to run from Friday, October 10 through Sunday, October 12, in Girard Park in Lafayette. This Cajun Woodstock is one that you don't want to miss! See ya'll there! Let the good times roll, cher!

Here's a little clip of a Downtown Alive party that I took at the Spring 09' series. Enjoy!

That looks like so much fun. I LOVE fall festivals! I just did a whole post about how I love them and how I have a steamy affair with pumpkins, LOL. We must be on the same wave-length.

Come by when you get a chance and check it out. I posted two of my favorite pumpkin recipes:

I do love coming to this par-tay!

When I was a kid, I worked alone as night watchman at 320 Walnut street in Philly.

It was an office building, but a historical plaque said that it was the site of the Quaker Almshouse that Evangeline knew in the great poem.......I always loved Acadians!
Glad I found ya!

Aloha

Hi Marguerite, just saw your comment, hope you had a lovely time on vacation ! I'm so bad, I still haven't posted the award you passed on to me, but I'm going to get there, it's not forgotten, and very much appreciated... life has just been a little crazy lately. I need to get away from this awful job I have and come play guitar somewhere in a backwater blue bayou, listen to more cajun music, and eat crawfish... :-D Sigh, maybe someday...

PS Those biscuits look delicious ! When I lived in Memphis I used to love to have biscuits and gravy for breakfast, but that doesn't exist here in France... double-sigh...one can't have everything...

Mandy- Camasava, cher!? We've got a festival or two, every weekend, till Dec., plus DTA. Ya'll should try to get transferred to Lafayette. You would love it here! Thanks for stopping by!

Wow, Cloudia! You guarded Evangeline's house! Love that poem, too. Every year there is a festival in St. Martinville that honors her. I'm glad I found ya, too. Aloha!

Bonjour Owen! So glad to see you. I understand about life being crazy, lately. It's so hard to get back to reality after a vacation. I'm sure you would fit in just perfect with the Cajuns. Merci for visiting!

Deb- DTA is a blast! You could easily make one or two. Click on the link in the post for a complete schedule. I really enjoyed your fishing post! Thanks for stopping by.

Marguerite! So happy you're back!

My husband and I spent the weekend at our river place recently and had the best dinner at a local Cajun restaurant called La Fitte's. It was awesome! The chef, J.P. La Fitte is transplanted from New Orleans, and wooo eeee, can the man cook. When you have time, follow this URL to the post....

I hurried to leave this comment, but now I need to go back and read your post more carefully this time.

Love your blog!!

Alix- Thanks, it's good to be back! Sounds like a great place, La Fitte's, with a N.O. chef! I can't wait to check out the post.

Elizabeth- Downtown Alive is very family oriented and kids go there from babyhood on up. They have special areas with fun activities for the kids. It's a blast!

Eddie- Life is one long party!! We work hard and we play hard, here in Cajun Country. It kinda balances out, that way. My leopard dancing shoes are fine, but I just bought a new pair. (leopard, again)

Carol- Wow, Doug Kershaw and Jimmy C. Newman are playing at Downtown Alive on Fri., Oct., 10, for the kick-off to the Festival Acadiens et Creole. I wish you could be here for that! Enjoy the biscuits!

Year on the Grill- So glad that I could help to get you get psyched-up for the Big Easy. The pleasure is all mine. Have a drink for me on that cruise. Cheers!
