Cajun Christmas Buffet + Bayou Boogie

Yes, it's hard to believe, but Christmas is less than two weeks away! Are you ready? I have been working on my menu for my Christmas Eve buffet, since my dear cousin is doing the honors this year and hosting the family holiday dinner on Christmas day. Thanks, cuz! I like to have a casual buffet for friends and family on Christmas Eve, and although I'm still tweaking the menu, here are some of the the appetizers that I will be serving. Enjoy! And this is what I have, so far, on my main menu. And a friend just called me and said that he is bringing a Cajun Fried Turkey, too!  Do you think that I have enough or should I add more? Desserts and breads will be in a separate post!

Bayou Boogie
Since I've been getting quite a few emails, asking for some more bayou boogie,  I am posting a little clip to cheer up all of mon cher amis. I know that the holidays can be a stressful time for many and hopefully this hotter than Tabasco clip of Horace Trahan and Rodney Bernard, playing Shake, Rattle, and Roll, will help to relieve some of the stress that is encountered at this time of year. Especially if you have a cold drink or two,  crank it up, and dance to it. Let the good times roll, cher! Cheers!

Wishing ya'll a wonderful, happy, stress-free week! Merci beaucoup for stopping by!

Let the eating festival continue!!! Nothing beats a fried turkey too.

Until I read that Christmas was less than two weeks away, I did not realize it was that close-YIKES!!! I am behind on everything (sigh).

I think there will be a few people who will be walking slowly after this feast.

Everything sounds wonderful; just the kind of food I'd like for buffet. I did click on the ham recipe and wonder what is Creole mustard, i.e. what special ingredients does it contain. Doubt I'd find it in northern New England.

Great mast head. Whose fence decor?

What a beautiful menu, Marguerite. Now seriously, have you ever considered opening up a restaurant? Just a small place, serving up all these delicious recipes?

Now that's one good sounding buffet. Crab stuffed mushrooms sound delicious.

Oh I love the hot stuff and those crab mushrooms look devine. I made a simple meal of sauteed veges tonight, but jazzed them up in your honor with lots of spices.

Velva- The best part about this fried turkey is that I don't have to cook it! lol It is sneaking up, isn't it and it'll be over before we know it! Thanks for coming by!

John- That's a given for most of my guests, but I always stop eating as soon as I feel full, no matter what's on the spread, so I'll be ready to dance. :) Cheers!

Cal. Girl- So nice to hear from you, cher! Thanks, the Boubon glaze is sinful and I hope you will try it. Creole mustard is a hot spicy mustard with horseradish, but you could use a spicy Dijon or Coleman's. The fence decor was done by the decorating committee in River Ranch. Happy Holidays!

Joanne- Thanks for the lovely compliment, cher! I have thought about opening a restaurant, but it's way too much work and we already have over 300 restaurants in Lafayette!

Lee- Thanks, the mushrooms are divine! Even though you can probably grill year round in Cal., you can also bake them for about 15 minutes on 350. Hope you try them!

Alex- Great to hear from you! Thanks, I love the hot stuff too! The Jalapeno-Cheese bread is easy to make and I hope you give it a try! Thanks for stopping by!
